The Ambassdor hosted a farewell lunch for the outgoing Deputy Head of Mission and Finance Attaché

His Excellency Masanneh Nyuku Kinteh, Ambassdor of the Republic of The Gambia and the staff of the Embassy organized a farewell lunch in honour of the outgoing Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe and Finance Attaché, Mr. Yusupha Sohna on 4th October 2022, having successfully completed their assignments in Beijing.


During the farewell lunch, Ambassdor Kinteh expressed appreciation to the outgoing Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe. He noted that DHM Jobe is a very loyal staff who has been his strong support and principal adviser. Ambassdor Kinteh further indicated that Ms. Jobe, an accomplishment diplomat who is grounded in management, policy making and analysis in international relations carried her duties with commitment and sincerity. As Head of Chancery, Ms. Jobe manages staff affairs and welfare with fairness, firmness, empathy and compassion where necessary. He thanked Ms. Jobe for her service to the country.


Ambassador Kinteh also expressed his appreciation to the outgoing Finance Attaché, who is hardworking, very thorough and always on time with his financial records and returns. He also has a high sense of integrity, honesty, accountability and prudence in managing the missions financial resources.


During this period under review, His Excellency Ambassador Kinteh highlighted the remarkable improvements in our relations with China despite the difficulties brought about by the Pandemic and limited budgetary allocations. He noted that the Embassy was able to create more awareness about The Gambia and more visibility of our presence in the entire China through people-to-people diplomacy. The Embassy was able to reach some new milestones in our cooperation efforts leading to more benefits for our peoples. He noted that all these achievements would not have been possible without a strong and committed Head of Chancery and support and cooperation of the Finance Attaché.


On her part, the outgoing Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe expressed heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency the Ambassdor for organizing the farewell lunch in their honour, which further demonstrates his generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness towards the people he works with. She highlighted her experience living in China and working at The Gambia Embassy in Beijing. DHM Jobe highlighted the tremendous achievements registered by the Embassy over the years especially in strengthening the bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and China in all development areas. She further noted the projects and plans the Embassy was able to implement and expressed her appreciation to His Excellency the Ambassador for his guidance and exemplary leadership qualities. She thanked the entire staff of the Embassy for their support and cooperation during her tenure as Deputy Head of Mission of The Gambia Embassy in China.


The Finance Attaché , Mr Yusupha Sohna echoed similar sentiments, he highlighted his work experience in China and the thanked His Excellency the Ambassdor and the entire staff of the Embassy for their support during his tenure in Beijing.


The farewell lunch was also attended by the Protocol and Welfare Officer, Mr. Madi Sawo (who moderated the event), the Defence Attaché, Mr. Ousman Bargie & spouse and the local staff. They all made farewell remarks for the outgoing staff.
